Hydroxy-terminated thiols form hydrophylic SAMs that reduce non-specific binding of proteins. They can also be used in mixed SAMs as hydrophilic background.
An alkanethiol will stick to a gold surface and form an ordered assembly with the alkyl chains packing together. We currently offer Whitesides monothiols and aromatic-dithiols in 10mg quantities. Larger quantities are available upon request.
