The Hydrazide group of this thiol reacts with Carbonyls (Aldehydes and Ketones) at pH 5-7 and forms a hydrazone bond. Mild oxidation of sugar glycols using sodium meta-periodate convert vicinnal hydroxyls to aldehydes or ketones. This carbohydrate modification is especially useful for antibodies where the carbohydrate is located in the Fc region away from the binding sites.

We currently offer Whitesides monothiols and aromatic-dithiols in 10mg quantities. Larger quantities are available upon request.
